Two-day introduction to wheel-throwing
£175
Our two-day introduction to wheel-throwing is a beginner's pottery workshop suitable for anyone new to ceramics who would like to spend a weekend learning how to throw pots on the wheel.
You will learn how to prepare clay, throw a range of basic shapes such as cylinders and bowls, add handles, and how to trim pots on the wheel. The two day course gives plenty of time for you to try out making a variety of types of vessel, or to focus on improving your technique, all with the support and guidance of the teacher.
You can select up to four pots to keep which we will fire and glaze for you. If you would like any of the other pots you have made to be fired and glazed, there is an additional charge of £5 per kilo of fired work (this works out at about £1 for a small mug) plus a technician glazing charge of £5 per item. You will be able to collect your finished work four to six weeks after your course.
This weekend pottery course in Bristol is also suitable for more experienced students who want to practise and develop their skills. Once the teacher has explained and demonstrated the key learning points of the session they will be happy to guide you on your area of interest.
All of our different pottery classes take place at our beautiful studios located in Bristol’s Christmas Steps Arts Quarter. For experienced potters, take a look at our members’ studio, designed for people who want to pursue their own ceramic projects with the convenience of having all the materials and equipment provided for them.
