Steve Carter is a slipware potter and ceramic maker. He has variously worked as casting technician, bronze caster and production flowerpot thrower alongside sharing his fascination and enthusiasm for making with students at many levels.  

In 1996 Steve founded his ‘research’ practice “St.Werburgh’s Pottery” in Bristol where he continues to explore “direct action” approaches – his speciality. This has involved earthenware slipware, throwing & single firing of functionals: “core” flowerpots kitchen & tablewares as well as sculpture.
