Nothing! All the equipment, clay and tools are provided for you, and we also provide aprons and towels. The one thing you might want to bring is a water bottle.
We do provide aprons but you might still get a bit messy so perhaps wear old clothes. If you have long hair it is best to tie it back,.
If you have long nails it will make it harder to work with clay, especially throwing on the wheel, so it would be best to give any long nails a trim before coming to the class.
Other than drinking water, we don’t have any refreshment facilities in the Clayhouse, but we are only a few minutes’ walk away from many independent cafes, so there is plenty of choice for hot drinks, snacks and lunches.
For our short courses, the cost includes the glazing and firing of a set number of pieces (see the course details for exact number).
For our foundation courses there is no limit on how much material you use but we make a small charge of £5 per kg of finished pottery on anything you choose to have fired. This works out as about £1.50 for a small mug.
Your finished work will be ready to collect between three and six weeks after your class/course has finished. We will send you an email when your work is ready for collection.
We will keep your work for 21 days after the email is sent to you. After this time we will dispose of uncollected items. On request, and for an additional charge to cover postage and packing, items can be posted. Please contact us to request this.
Yes, there are bike lock racks close by in the central pedestrianised area opposite the bottom of Zed Alley.
There is no free parking near us but there are paid parking options nearby. The closest is Trenchard Street Car Park. We are also very close to the Bristol Centre bus stops.
We regularly add new courses, depending on demand. The best way to find out about new courses and when they are available to book is to join our mailing list.
Unless otherwise stated, class participants must be 18 years or over. We have specific courses for young people aged 12-18 – details can be found under ‘Pottery Classes’.
By prior arrangement we can offer bookings for groups of up to 30 people. Please get in touch to discuss how we can help you with a group booking. Arrangements should be made three months in advance of your proposed date, so that we can co-ordinate your requirements with the needs of our studio members.
Full refunds are only given if requested 20 days or more before the start of a class or course. In some circumstances we can offer a partial refund or transfer to a different class or course. To see our refund policy in full, please see our terms and conditions.
We regret that there will be no refunds for non-attendance at a class and it will not be possible to attend a different class instead.
