Six-week course in wheel-throwing
£240
Running over six consecutive weeks at the same time each week, this beginner pottery course at Zed Alley Clayhouse, Bristol provides a broad introduction for anyone new to ceramics who wants to learn the basics of throwing pots on the wheel and glazing.
You will learn how to prepare clay, throw a range of basic shapes such as cylinders and bowls, add handles and pourers, and to trim pots on the wheel. You will also learn how to glaze your pots as well as techniques for decorating your work with slips and underglazes.
We have no limit on how much material you use but we make a small charge of £5 per kg of finished pottery on anything you choose to have fired. This works out as about £1 for a small mug.
This course is also suitable for more experienced students who want to practise and develop their skills. Once the teacher has explained the key learning points of the session they will be happy to guide you on your area of interest.
All of our pottery classes take place at our beautiful studios located in Bristol’s historic Christmas Steps Arts Quarter. For experienced potters, take a look at our members’ studio, designed for people who want to pursue their own ceramic projects with the convenience of having all the materials and equipment provided for them.
