Six-week course in hand-building
£218
Running over six consecutive weeks at the same time each week, this pottery course provides a broad introduction for anyone new to ceramics who wants to learn the basics of hand-building and glazing.
You will learn how to prepare clay, use hand-building techniques such as pinching and coiling to build cups and bowls, and also learn about pressing or joining slabs to build a wider range of vessels such as plates, bowls, mugs and vases. You will also learn how to glaze your pots as well as techniques for decorating your work with slips and underglazes.
We have no limit on how much material you use but we make a small charge of £5 per kg of finished pottery on anything you choose to have fired. This works out as about £1 for a small mug.
This course is also suitable for more experienced students who want to practise and develop their skills. Once the teacher has explained the key learning points of the session they will be happy to guide you on your area of interest.
All of our informative and inclusive pottery classes take place at our studios located in a historic, listed building at the heart of Bristol’s Arts Quarter. If you are an experienced potter and want to pursue your own ceramic projects with the convenience of having all the materials and equipment provided for them, then we would love to welcome you at our members’ studio.
If you are looking for a shorter workshop or something more advanced, then take a look at all the other pottery classes we offer here at Zed Alley Clayhouse in central Bristol.
